Comar was established in 1984 as a company within the Marchimica group (the name stands for "COmmerciale-MARchimica").
Initially focused on acquiring representations of foreign companies in the Italian market for pharmaceutical chemistry and later in the paints and varnish sector, since the early 1990s Comar has developed its own manufacturing footprint, quickly becoming the commercial and industrial arm of the group.
During the 1990s, Comar's efforts shifted towards supplying silicone products for the rubber and plastics sector, color masterbatches, additives for plastic molding and extrusion, release agents, and additives for paints and varnish. Simultaneously, the supply activity to the electric cable production sector was strengthened, thanks to the acquisition of significant representation and agency agreements with leading multinational companies.
From the mid-1990s, a department was also set up for carrying out third-party processing of powders and liquids.
Similarly, significant investments were made on machinery for processing silicones, in the form of HTV and RTV vulcanizable rubber, as well as for processing pastes and greases.
